5 Ways To Cut Cake Costs Part 2
This posting adds five more ways to save on your wedding cake!
6. Keep it simple. Embellishments, extensive piping, hand painting, gumpaste appliques all take time and time is money. Save money by keeping your cake design simple.
7. Fresh is best. Gumpaste flowers are laboriously made by hand. Once again time is money and you will pay for all the time that goes into gumpaste flowers. Talk to your florist about having real flowers instead.
8. Status Quo. Gourmet flavors and speciality fillings sound tasty, but will probably cost more. In fact your guests will probably eat more cake if it is a “safe” flavor like vanilla, almond or chocolate.Stick with traditional cake flavors, save money and keep your guests happy!
9. Don’t be a dummy! One way to make your cake look larger is by adding false tiers or artificial tiers. These are dummy tiers made of styrofoam, but decorated to look like your cake.
10. Milk, Bread, Eggs, and Wedding Cake. Some grocery store bakeries will make wedding cakes. If they do you can chose a pre-designed cake from their book. This will save you money on your cake, but the down side is that you will have to figure out a way to get it delivered to your reception.
