American Retail Bakery Expo in Charlotte NC
Last weekend my family drove down to Charlotte to attend the American Retail Bakery Expo sponsored by the Retail Bakers of America. This trip was filled with alot of “firsts” - first time attending a baking expo, first time taking our daughter on a 3 hour trip, first time taking our daughter to see her grandparents, first time her great grandmother got to see her, and first time going out with my husband without the baby in tow! Needless to say we covered a series of milestones in only four days! My husband and I were able to catchup with family and I was able to get out and get some “professional development.”
Here are some highlights from the expo....
Using email marketing as a tool for the business, learning ways to increase business productivity, live cake demonstrations - one by Norman Davis of The Sweet Life and the other by Geraldine Randelsome of Creative Cutters. Buddy Valastro Jr. from Carlos’ Bakery and his team building a life size race car out of cake- that was pretty impressive!
I did drag my husband to the expo on one of the days - he is such a good sport! Suprisingly one of the keynote speakers was Joe Gibbs, the former coach of the Washington Redskins. Since my husband is a HUGE football fanatic he was excited that about hearing his address and I was happy that my husband was able to enjoy something not cake related.
All in all, this trip was a win win for everyone including my husband, and my parents!
