Fashionable Cake from The Cake Walk

Question: What kind of cake do you make for a southern fashionista who has a “ Pink Isn’t A Color, But An Attitude!” sign hanging in her house?

Answer: A zebra print sugar stiletto and a shoebox cake! Ever since I saw a picture of a sugar stilleto and shoebox cake in Elisa Strauss’ Confetti Cakes Cookbook I have been wanting to give it a try my self. Elisa Strauss has amazing cake designs you can check out her website http://www.confetticakes.com. As for the cake, I made a chocolate cake covered with white fondant and light pink fondant tissue paper. The sugar stilleto shoe was made with gumpaste and handpainted with a zebra animal print. “ Jamie & Co.” was added on the label of the shoe and coordinated with the same label on the cake shoebox. This was a demanding project, but it was a fun and creative diversion from the usual traditional wedding cake!
