Finally a cake with damask!

Several years ago my husband’s cousin got married and of course we received a thank you note for the gift we bought for their wedding. The thank you note was white with a black damask pattern and a hot pink ribbon accent. I saved the card because I thought how great would it look to put a black damask pattern on a cake! I originally made a dummy cake with a black fondant pattern that I cut out by hand and it looked okay, but did not look anything like damask. That was about two years ago and I decide to “retire” that dummy cake this past summer. I was thrilled when I found a damask cake stencil and was able to use it to decorate another dummy cake. Okay, it was a bit nerve racking putting black royal icing on a pure white cake, but the end result is stunning. A cake with a damask pattern - finally!
