My Very Own Wedding Cake

I was cleaning and organizing one of my closets this weekend and came across all the pictures from my own wedding. I figured that since wedding cakes are my business why not post a picture of my own cake? One question I always get asked by brides is, “Did you make your own wedding cake?” The answer is simply “ No.” First of all I did not learn how to decorate cakes until after I was married and secondly even if I did have the skills I would have still gotten someone else to make my cake. Don’t get me wrong, I was certainly a “do-it-yourself to save money” bride, but the stress of my own wedding and making a cake would have been too great. So here is my wedding cake: Three tiers of almond pound cake with buttercream icing as the filling and frosting. A light “Carolina” blue gumpaste bow accented the top and of course our monogram had to be included. We ordered our cake from Creative Cakes By Renee in Dunn, NC.
I found out about her business from the girl who taught next door to me and she recommended Creative Cakes By Renee since her prices were far more reasonable than those in Raleigh.
